This Week's Round-Up
Elections happened this week. Hope you're as ready for the bright and beautiful world of no political ads on TV and YouTube as I am.
Markets are in trouble. Election results won’t change that
If you live under a rock, the midterm elections were Tuesday. Despite many prognosticators and pundits predicting a strong night for the Republicans, the reality was slightly different. While still projected to achieve a slim majority in the House, the GOP would be all but thrilled to get to 50 seats, despite being projected as many as 54 at one point last week.
There are a lot of potential takeaways about the election, but this is a business/money newsletter. The most important takeaway for my readers: gridlock is one of the best things for small businesses and entrepreneurs, as radical spending/tax policy on either side of the aisle becomes nearly impossible to push through. Even if the GOP doesn't control the Senate, a majority in the house puts a major damper on the Democrat's policy agenda.

Crypto Has Had A Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Year. What Advisors Say to Do Now.
Maybe you don't give one iota about crypto. Move on and quit complaining then.
Cryptocurrencies across the board have had a disastrous year. Bitcoin has fallen from highs of $64K to around $19K today. Ethereum has not faired any better. The narrative that crypto would be an inflation hedge has been all but decimated, especially since gold, the original safe haven, has continued to destroy crypto's price stability. The blockchain is one of those developments that is hard to overlook; I believe it be one of the most revolutionary technologies not yet deployed to it's full capacity. But I can't deny what's happened with the prices of digital assets. Where does that leave crypto investors?
I was wondering the same thing. This is a phenonomal article on the current state of the market.
Idea of the Week - Online Focus Groups
If you have original thoughts and are alive, you will qualify for some online focus groups that will make you some easy side income. Companies run studies on their products, marketing strategies, and customers' opinions all the time, and the pay can be lucrative, albeit inconsistent.
Here's how it works:
You'll apply for a study, filling out some basic information about your habits/background, and the company running the study will determine if you fit the demographic or customer base they are wanting to hear from. If so, they'll invite you to a Zoom call, where you'll converse with an interviewer, sharing your honest feedback.
You'll have to apply for a lot of studies (the best in the business typically can hit on 4/10 applications, to put it into perspective), but the money is worth it if you develop a process of combing through studies you're eligible for. I made $750 from this side hustle in the last couple of months, with 3 hours of "work."

Podcast of the Week - Millionaires Unveiled
You might be surprised at how relatable most millionaires are. There are a lot of "ordinary" people who make it big financially, and their stories bring a lot of applicable lessons for the rest of us. I've enjoyed this show for a few months, and find myself jotting down something nearly every episode. The pod is extremely laid back, with no foreseeable agenda; the hosts let the successful guest go through their story, with all the troubles and struggles that comes along with any good journey. Check out a recent episode and see if you pick anything up yourself!
